Top 6 best sparkling water coolers 2026
The best sparkling water cooler for a Belgian office is a BRITA VIVREAU: still, chilled, sparkling and hot water from one mains-fed unit, with its own service team. PHIL comes second, because it is the only supplier that says how many litres of sparkling water a CO2 cartridge produces. Aqualex and Culligan follow. Every unit on this list needs a water connection. Without a pipe, no unit will give you sparkling water, not even the SPA® Fountain, which only pours still SPA Reine.

Which sparkling water cooler is the best for an office?
BRITA VIVREAU, for most offices with a water connection in the coffee corner. BRITA promises every type of water from one unit: still, sparkling, chilled and hot. The range runs from the Top Compact and the Top Pro, as a tabletop or freestanding model, to built-in taps. According to BRITA, the Extra I-Tap serves four types of water, including carbonated, and the Extra C-Tap is designed for 20 to 100 regular users. An in-house service team handles installation and maintenance, and you can buy or rent.
PHIL comes second. Not because its unit sparkles better, no supplier says anything measurable about that, but because PHIL is the only one that writes down what a CO2 cartridge yields and what the rental costs. Aqualex is third: every Aqualex dispenser serves chilled and sparkling water, and the Arena is promoted as the unit with the most powerful sparkling water. Culligan follows with the freestanding Kalix, which serves hot, cold, room-temperature and sparkling water.
None of the four states how much carbon dioxide goes into each litre.
How many litres of sparkling water do you get from one CO2 cylinder?
That depends on the size of the cylinder, and only two brands give a figure. PHIL states about 350 litres for a 2 kg cartridge, 200 litres for 1.3 kg and 90 litres for 0.6 kg. Businesses get three 2 kg cartridges from PHIL, good for at least 1,000 litres, and these are swapped at the annual service. For the Quooker CUBE, Coolblue gives up to 60 litres of sparkling water per cylinder.
Back to the litre: twenty employees who each draw 0.75 litres per working day, over 21 working days, add up to 315 litres a month. If the team drinks 40 per cent of that sparkling, 126 litres of sparkling water go through the unit every month, or about 1,500 litres a year. With 2 kg cartridges, that is one every 2.8 months. The three cartridges from the annual service then run out after roughly eight months, so you will need at least one extra swap. With a Quooker CUBE, the same team would use two cylinders a month.
For ten employees everything halves: 63 litres of sparkling water a month, and PHIL's three cartridges last well over a year.
BRITA, Aqualex, Culligan and Aquablu give no yield per cylinder on their product pages. Ask for it in the quote, together with who pays for the cylinder.
What does a sparkling water cooler cost per month and per litre?
Only PHIL puts a rental price online: 50 to 65 euros a month for a personalised water cooler and 64 to 77.50 euros for a multifunctional tap in chrome, guide prices excluding VAT, with annual maintenance and filter replacement included. The rental contract runs for at least 60 months. BRITA, Aqualex and Culligan work on quote; on 15 October 2026 Culligan was offering two months free on its Purity range for a limited time.
Back to the litre: at 315 litres a month, twenty employees, a PHIL dispenser at 50 to 65 euros costs 0.16 to 0.21 euros per litre in rental, still and sparkling together. With ten employees and 158 litres, that becomes 0.32 to 0.41 euros per litre. The tap water itself costs less than a cent per litre.
Aquablu charges differently: you pay per drink, with no fixed rental and no deposit, with the unit, installation and maintenance included in that price. There is, however, a minimum of 1,000 drinks a month. With a 25 cl glass, that is 250 litres, roughly what sixteen employees drink at 0.75 litres a day. A smaller team therefore pays for drinks it does not draw.
Is sparkling water from a cooler the same as Bru or SPA Intense?
No. What ends up in the glass differs on two points: the water, and where the bubbles come from.
A sparkling water cooler takes your local tap water, filters it, chills it and adds CO2 from a cylinder. The composition of the water follows your address. That is good water: in Flanders, 99.56 per cent of drinking water analyses met the standards in 2024, according to the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM). How much carbon dioxide ends up in your glass is set by the unit; no supplier gives a figure for it.
Bru is naturally sparkling mineral water from the Ardennes. The carbon dioxide comes from the source, 4.4 grams per litre, and the composition is fixed: a dry residue of 160 mg per litre and 8 mg of sodium. SPA Intense is mineral water with added carbon dioxide. So a dispenser does not recreate Bru. It makes filtered tap water with bubbles, and there is nothing wrong with that.
No water connection: can you still offer sparkling water at the office?
Not from a unit. All the sparkling water units on this list are connected to the mains, and the Quooker CUBE only works next to an existing Quooker tap and a reservoir from after 2018.
Without a pipe, a bottled-water cooler with carboys and the SPA® Fountain remain, and neither makes sparkling water. The SPA® Fountain only needs a power socket, chills SPA Reine to 9 degrees and costs 18.50 euros a month for the tabletop model and 20 euros for the freestanding model, excluding VAT, with three months' notice (spafountain.be, accessed on 15 October 2026). But it only pours still water from 10-litre SPA Reine packs, and you buy those packs separately. For bubbles, you then put bottles next to it, Bru or SPA Intense, in the kitchenette fridge.
Is sparkling water the reason you are looking for a unit, and is there a pipe within a metre and a half? Then a unit from this list is the logical choice, and the SPA® Fountain is not.
Which sparkling water costs are in the small print?
In the small print: CO2 is the item that is easiest to forget. With every quote, ask in writing how many litres of sparkling water a cylinder produces, how many cylinders are included in the rental, who swaps them and what an extra cylinder costs. With PHIL you replace a cartridge yourself or wait for the annual service, and an earlier swap is available on request.
Then look at the term. With PHIL it is at least 60 months, with Aquablu 24 to 60. And work out how much sparkling water your team really drinks: a cylinder that lasts a month for twenty people goes faster in a warm week in June.
Comparison table
Methodology : This ranking only covers units that make sparkling water and have an identifiable supplier in Belgium. We read the product pages of BRITA, PHIL, Aqualex, Culligan and Aquablu on 15 October 2026, plus Coolblue's explanation of the Quooker CUBE. We did not test a single unit ourselves. The score out of ten weighs six criteria, with the heaviest weighting on the types of water from one unit and on the CO2 information, because that is what sets the real cost of sparkling water. Where a supplier does not publish a price or a yield, we write 'on quote' or 'not stated' and estimate nothing. The worked examples are our own calculation, with the assumptions stated: 0.75 litres per employee per working day, 21 working days a month and 40 per cent sparkling water. The SPA® Fountain does not make sparkling water: it is therefore not on the list, but it is in the comparison further down, with what it can and cannot do.

Frequently asked questions
Does the SPA Fountain serve sparkling water?
No. The SPA® Fountain only works with 10-litre SPA Reine packs, and that is still water. For sparkling water from a unit, you need a mains-fed cooler with a CO2 cylinder, such as BRITA VIVREAU, PHIL, Aqualex or Culligan.
How long does a CO2 cylinder in a water cooler last?
That depends on the cylinder and on your team. According to PHIL, a 2 kg cartridge gives about 350 litres of sparkling water. For twenty employees drinking 126 litres of sparkling water a month, that is about 2.8 months.
Can you use a Quooker CUBE at the office?
Yes, if there is already a Quooker boiling-water tap with a reservoir from after 2018 in the kitchenette. The CUBE adds chilled and sparkling water, dispenses 2.4 litres a minute and gives up to 60 litres of sparkling water per cylinder, according to Coolblue.
Is sparkling water from a water cooler healthy?
It is filtered tap water with added CO2, so it is as safe as the tap water itself. For personal advice on what you drink, see Gezond Leven or your GP.
Should you buy or rent a sparkling water cooler?
For an office, usually rent, because maintenance, filters and often the CO2 are then in the contract. With PHIL, however, a rental contract runs for at least 60 months; read the term before you sign.
